‘Osprey Arrival’ by Andrew Szymczyk is Bronze

Mariner Gallery is now representing British sculptor Andrew Syzmch @andrewsculpture and earlier this year we commissioned him to sculpt a life sized bronze Osprey. This is the first edition of twelve and reflects the osprey’s sheer power and Andrews mastery of the subject. Known to mate for life, these remarkable raptors and their offspring usually return to the same location year after year—just like true New Englanders.

In the artist’s words, ‘This project aligned perfectly with my focus on marine themes. Working with Mark Smith’s photo album, Osprey: The Glorious Pursuit of Unbridled Determination, was pivotal in capturing the osprey’s essence. From studying wing movement to the complex process of molding and casting, every step brought this bird to life.’

Recently endangered by DDT chemicals, the osprey made a remarkable comeback after a significant environmental effort. Mariner Gallery welcomes Andrew as a new artist to the gallery with this magnificent piece, celebrating resilience, legacy, and our commitment to marine art and wildlife.
